Entrepreneur

& Visionary

Alec Gioseffi is a chef, farmer, entrepreneur, and visionary business strategist whose expertise lies at the nexus of agriculture, hospitality, and community. Cultivated through travel and the family kitchen, Alec’s work is informed by the fact that food is central to connection and eating is both a cultural and agricultural act that shapes people’s relationship to the land.

Alec’s career as a chef spans many diverse culinary operations, from grocery stores and cafes to high end farm to table restaurants. Most notably, Alec lead the culinary program as Executive Chef and Farm Director at Ironbound Farm in Hunterdon County NJ, a regenerative farm, cidery, and an impressive outdoor cooking operation highlighting seasonality and locality prepared over the Motherfire—a 30-foot Argentinian-inspired open hearth at the heart of the farm. His work has been featured in Edible Jersey, Lehigh Valley Style, NJ Monthly, Business Wire, Princeton Magazine and on the Permaculture Podcast and Market Gardener Podcast.

A true renaissance man, Alec also has a celebrated career as a regenerative farmer. Alec and his wife Lauren founded both Cooperative 518 Farm and Cherry Valley Cooperative in Princeton NJ both dedicated to regenerative agriculture as a means of caring for land and community. These farms supplied CSA members, on site farmer’s markets and restaurants while hosting educational and cultural gatherings.

In 2019, Alec joined Ironbound Farm, where he designed and implemented a 30 acre agroforestry and silvopasture system that integrated vegetables and livestock into a cider apple orchard which supplied a CSA program, hard cidery, farm market and wholesale distribution network. Alec has also trained and mentored chefs and farmers, worked as a mentor in the NOFA NJ Journey Person program, served on the NOFA NJ board, and taught workshops at the NOFA NJ Winter Conference. He has spoken on agricultural panels at the Princeton Garden Theater, Princeton Environmental Film Festival, and Hopewell Theater. Alec successfully designed and implemented a Farm to School grant that brought farm and food education to the Princeton Montessori School and the West Windsor–Plainsboro School District.

Through Terra & Table Strategies, Alec continues his life’s work of guiding farms, restaurants, and organizations to design systems that are ecologically resilient, financially viable, and deeply holistic.
